Commonwealth Brewing Company

Big Papi is a vibrant and exceptionally "super juicy" expression of a Double IPA. It pours a deep gold with a soft, modern haze and a persistent off-white head. The aroma is highly intense, leaping from the glass with pungent notes of tropical mango, crushed pineapple, and bright citrus oils. While traditionally a high-bitterness style, this version emphasizes hop flavor over bite, delivering a "low bitterness" profile that allows the succulent fruit notes to dominate. A clean, neutral malt base provides structure without sweetness, finishing with a smooth, well-integrated warmth from the 8% ABV that enhances the beer’s lush, fruit-forward complexity.

Appearance. Gold to light orange (SRM 6-9). Features a moderate-sized, persistent off-white head with good lacing. Displays a slight, modern haze consistent with its juicy character.

Aroma. Prominent to intense hop aroma featuring tropical fruit, mango, pineapple, and citrus zest. A supportive, clean, neutral maltiness resides in the background. Fermentation profile is clean with very low fruity esters.

Taste. Initial impression is a burst of tropical fruit and citrus hop flavor. Malt is soft, clean, and unobtrusive, providing a neutral backdrop. Perceived bitterness is notably mild for the style, lacking any harsh resin. The finish is medium-dry and clean with a lingering, succulent fruit aftertaste.

Mouthfeel. Medium body with a smooth, soft texture. Carbonation is moderate-high. Features a restrained, smooth alcohol warmth from the 8% ABV without any hop-derived astringency.
