This German Pils presents a modern twist as an India Pale Lager, bridging traditional lager fermentation with assertive New World hop expression. The profile opens with the crisp, clean precision expected of the style but elevates the sensory experience using Centennial and Cascade hops. These varieties introduce vibrant layers of citrus zest and resinous pine over a delicate, doughy malt foundation. The fermentation is impeccably clean, allowing the floral and grapefruit notes to shine through a bone-dry finish. Refreshing and sharp, it maintains the structural integrity of a traditional lager while delivering the aromatic punch of a contemporary pale ale.
Appearance. Straw to deep yellow (3 SRM) with brilliant clarity. Pours with a dense, creamy white head that demonstrates excellent retention and leaves fine lacing.
Aroma. Moderately high intensity featuring forward notes of citrus, grapefruit, and resinous pine. Supported by a low grainy-sweet malt character reminiscent of fresh crackers. Fermentation is very clean with no detectable esters or phenols.
Taste. Initial light, doughy malt flavor is quickly eclipsed by a firm hop bitterness. Flavors of orange peel and floral spice dominate the mid-palate. The balance is decidedly bitter, leading into a very dry, crisp finish with a lingering clean, hoppy aftertaste.
Mouthfeel. Medium-light body with moderate to high carbonation that enhances the crisp, refreshing character. Very smooth with no alcohol warmth or astringency.
