Belgian and French Ale 3.2 º
Designed as a highly sessionable take on a Belgian Single, this table beer showcases an expressive collaboration of Kveik yeast and vibrant New Zealand hops. A pale straw pour releases a lively bouquet of white grape, gooseberry, and bright orange peel esters, underpinned by a rustic, crackery malt base. The palate is brilliantly dry and crisp, delivering a firm, thirst-quenching bitterness that balances the tropical fruit notes from the southern hemisphere hops. Energetic carbonation sweeps across the tongue, leaving a clean, highly refreshing, and subtly spicy finish that belies its light 3.2% ABV.
Appearance. Pale straw to light yellow in color. Presents a slight, hazy yeast sheen with a voluminous, billowy white head that exhibits excellent persistence and leaves delicate lacing on the glass.
Aroma. Moderate to high intensity. Prominent tropical and citrus notes of gooseberry, white wine grapes, and passion fruit from the New Zealand hops blend seamlessly with orange peel and subtle orchard fruit esters from the Kveik yeast fermentation. A low, crackery and bready malt backdrop provides support, accompanied by a very light, rustic, peppery phenolic spice.
Taste. Initial impression of crisp, lean, crackery malt that quickly gives way to assertive fruit flavors of lime zest, white grape, and stone fruit. Medium-high bitterness is prominent, accentuated by a highly attenuated, bone-dry finish. Hop flavor is moderate to high, showing a modern New Zealand tropical character rather than continental spice. The aftertaste is clean, dry, and pleasantly bitter with lingering citrus zest and a hint of peppery yeast.
Mouthfeel. Light to medium-light body, feeling incredibly lean but not watery. Carbonation is high and prickly, enhancing the crispness. Entirely devoid of alcohol warmth, presenting a highly refreshing, smooth, and easily drinkable mouthfeel with no astringency.
