Imperial IPA 8 º
Surrender is a bold Double IPA that showcases the vibrant synergy between Citra and the characterful Southern Cross hop. On the nose, intense waves of lemon zest and lime from the Southern Cross mingle with Citra's signature grapefruit and tropical mango notes. The palate follows with a rush of resinous pine and crushed pineapple, supported by a lean, doughy malt base that allows the high hop bitterness to remain crisp rather than cloying. At 8% ABV, a smooth alcohol warmth integrates seamlessly, leading to a dry, lingering finish defined by citrus oils and a clean, refreshing bitterness.
Appearance. Gold to light orange (6-10 SRM) with a slight, persistent haze. Features a moderate-sized, creamy white head with excellent retention and significant lacing on the glass.
Aroma. High intensity hop aroma dominated by citrus (lemon zest, lime, grapefruit) and tropical fruit (mango, pineapple). Underlying notes of resinous pine and a faint floral quality. Malt is low and neutral, presenting as light cracker or bread dough. Clean fermentation profile.
Taste. Initial impression is a burst of hop-derived citrus and tropical fruit. Strong hop flavors of grapefruit, lemon, and pine needle are supported by a low, clean malt character. Bitterness is firm and high but lacks harshness, balancing the 8% ABV. Finish is medium-dry and clean with a long, resinous, and fruity aftertaste.
Mouthfeel. Medium body with a smooth, soft texture. Carbonation is medium-high. A noticeable but well-integrated alcohol warmth is present, without any harsh hop-derived astringency or solvent notes.
