This Imperial Stout presents an opulent sensory profile driven by a collaboration with SiopTEC roasters. Utilizing nitrogen-macerated coffee beans from the Ratnagiri Estate, it delivers a complex aromatic layer of bright red cherries and toasted almonds. The base of heavy roasted malts provides a deep cacao foundation that interweaves with smooth vanilla notes for a luxurious experience. On the palate, the beer is thick and velvety, showcasing a harmonious balance between bittersweet chocolate, dark fruit esters, and a refined coffee acidity. The high alcohol content provides a gentle warmth that elevates the dessert-like complexity, finishing with a lingering, roasty richness.
Appearance. Opaque, jet black (40+ SRM) with a thick, creamy, deep tan head. High viscosity is evident as oily legs form on the glass glass upon swirling.
Aroma. High intensity with rich dark chocolate and cocoa powder dominating. Distinct nitrogen-macerated coffee notes contribute aromas of cherry and marzipan-like almond. Subtle vanilla sweetness rounds out the intense roast, supported by moderate dark fruit esters of plum and raisin. Alcohol is present but smooth and non-solvent.
Taste. Intense and multifaceted initial impression of bittersweet cacao and espresso-forward roast. The Ratnagiri coffee contributes unique fruit-forward flavors of ripe cherry and a nutty, almond-like depth. Vanilla provides a smoothing sweetness that balances the moderate bitterness from roasted grains. The finish is long and warming, evolving from chocolate sweetness to a clean, roasty dryness with lingering notes of dark fruit.
Mouthfeel. Full to very full-bodied with a velvety, chewy, and luscious texture. Carbonation is low to moderate, enhancing the creaminess. A smooth, noticeable alcohol warmth is present and well-integrated, with no astringency from the coffee or dark malts.
