This modern Double IPA serves as a spotlight for hand-selected Motueka hops, delivering a vivid sensory profile defined by high-intensity citrus. The experience begins with a bright, zesty aroma of lime sorbet and fizzy sherbet, which transitions into a palate layered with tropical fruit and a distinctive dank, herbaceous quality. Cloudwater’s signature approach provides a creamy, velvety texture that softens the firm hop bitterness. While the malt remains neutral and supportive, the Motueka-driven notes of lemon-lime and crushed herbs dominate from the first sip through to a smooth, resinous finish that masks its strength with exceptional drinkability.
Appearance. Deep gold to pale orange (7 SRM) with a heavy, opaque haze. Features a thick, long-lasting white head with dense lacing.
Aroma. High intensity hop aroma featuring prominent lime zest, lemon sherbet, and tropical fruit. Underlying notes of resinous dankness and fresh green herbs are present, supported by a neutral, doughy malt character and clean fermentation.
Taste. Leading with a burst of zesty lime and mojito-like fruitiness. The mid-palate reveals a soft, floury malt sweetness that balances a moderate-to-high hop bitterness. Hop flavors mirror the aroma with sherbet and herbal resin. The finish is medium-dry and clean, with a lingering, pleasant citrus-oil aftertaste.
Mouthfeel. Medium-full body with a notably creamy, pillowy texture. Carbonation is moderate. A gentle, well-integrated alcohol warmth is present, and the beer is free from hop-derived astringency.
