Erasmus is a vibrant West Coast Pilsner born from a collaboration between Cloudwater and Bratislava's Firstep. This lager bridges traditional European craftsmanship with modern hop intensity, featuring fresh hops sourced directly from the Statek Vodňanský farm in Czechia. The sensory profile is defined by a high-intensity hop punch—melding classic herbal and spicy Czech notes with the citrusy brightness typical of the West Coast style. Built on a foundation of clean Continental Pilsner malt, it delivers a crisp, crackery backbone that supports a firm, lingering bitterness. The result is a brilliantly clear, refreshing beer that celebrates the resilience of family-run agriculture and contemporary brewing innovation.
Appearance. Straw to deep yellow (3 SRM), brilliant clarity, with a thick, creamy, long-lasting white head and excellent lacing.
Aroma. High intensity fresh hop character with prominent floral, spicy, and herbal notes from the Czech hops; low grainy, sweet, and crackery malt character with a very clean fermentation profile.
Taste. Initial grainy-sweet malt flavor quickly overcome by a bold hop presence and firm bitterness; features a dry, crisp finish with lingering herbal hop oils and a touch of minerality; clean fermentation with no esters.
Mouthfeel. Medium-light body with high carbonation; crisp and refreshing with a sharp, clean snap and no alcohol warmth or harshness.

A new collaboration with our friends from Bratislava, Firstep. After earning their trade brewing in Prague, Michal and Rafa teamed up with designer Pete to create their own brand. We are super excited to be one of their early collaborators as they embark on spreading their fresh hop-forward beer into Europe.Leaning into our love for traditional Czech lager and hop forward IPAs, we decided on a fresh West Coast Pilsner. We were lucky enough to use some fresh hops from the Statek Vodňanský hop farm in Czechia. The farm has a rich family history, from being confiscated at the beginning of World War 2 and lost again under Soviet occupation. The Vodňanský family emigrated to Vienna until the Velvet Revolution, where they were able to reclaim the farm, which was now left in ruins. Decades of regeneration and the farm passing down through the family, the farm is fully focused on operating efficient, responsible agriculture that is friendly to nature, animals, and people.
