Epistrophe is a highly drinkable, session-strength American Pale Ale tailored for the cask format. A vibrant hop profile takes center stage, driven by the classic trio of Citra, Centennial, and Columbus. Expect bright, punchy citrus notes of grapefruit and lime from the Citra and Centennial, supported by a distinct herbaceous and resinous finish characteristic of Columbus. The 4% ABV ensures a light, approachable frame where the neutral, grainy malt provides a subtle, bready foundation without overshadowing the hops. This modern cask interpretation balances traditional serving methods with bold, contemporary flavors, resulting in a clean, refreshing, and quintessentially pintable experience.
Appearance. Luminous pale gold (5 SRM) with brilliant clarity. Topped by a dense, creamy, off-white head that shows persistent retention and delicate lacing.
Aroma. Moderate to high intensity hop aroma featuring layers of fresh lemon zest, grapefruit, and floral blossoms. A secondary layer of pine resin and dried herbs provides depth. The malt character is low and neutral, offering a simple background of cracker and fresh bread dough.
Taste. Initial citrus flavors of tangerine and lime pith transition into a more savory, herbal mid-palate. High hop flavor reflects the use of Centennial and Citra, while Columbus provides a firm, resinous bitterness. Malt presence is minimal but supportive, providing just enough biscuit-like character to balance the hop-forward profile. Finishes dry and clean with a lingering citrus zest.
Mouthfeel. Medium-light body with a smooth, soft texture. Carbonation is moderate and fine, enhancing drinkability. No alcohol warmth or astringency is present.
