This luxurious Imperial Stout emerges from its sleep in bourbon barrels to deliver a deeply comforting sensory experience. Rich aromas of caramelized sugar, treacle toffee, and dense fruitcake lead the nose, veering away from bright fruitiness toward darker, caramelized depths. As it sits on the palate, the barrel-aging manifests with luxurious waves of sweet vanilla and toasted coconut, underpinned by a whisper of earthy oak smoke. Despite its potent strength, the mouthfeel remains remarkably smooth and rounded, with a slow, warming finish that masterfully integrates its boozy punch with dark, decadent malt complexity.

Appearance. Jet black and completely opaque, topped with a dense, creamy, deep tan head that shows moderate retention. Highly viscous in the glass, leaving prominent legs along the sides when swirled.

Aroma. High-intensity aroma featuring rich dark chocolate and roasted coffee beans, layered with caramelized sugar, treacle, and dark-fruit esters reminiscent of raisin and plum. The bourbon barrel aging is highly prominent, contributing sweet vanilla, toasted coconut, and a light, woody smoke. Warm, clean alcohol is well-integrated and pleasant, without any solvent character.

Taste. An intense initial impression of sweet caramelized sugar, treacle toffee, and rich, dark fruitcake. The mid-palate is balanced by bittersweet dark chocolate, roasted malt grain, and a firm but smooth bitterness. Towards the finish, the bourbon wood character peaks with distinct vanilla, toasted coconut, and a touch of oak smoke. The finish is moderately sweet and velvety, with a lingering aftertaste of dark roast and clean warmth.

Mouthfeel. Very full-bodied, dense, and chewy with a velvety, luscious texture that coats the mouth. Carbonation is low to moderate. A pronounced, smooth, and rounded alcohol warmth is highly apparent but remains entirely pleasant, with no harshness or astringency.
