This sophisticated Imperial Stout, blended from stouts aged up to six years in cognac, bourbon, and Ardbeg whisky barrels, offers a masterclass in barrel-matured complexity. A dark and enticing pour, it transitions seamlessly from rich aromas of fruitcake, dark fruits, and sweet oak to a deep, layered palate. The classic roasted malt base is beautifully elevated by the peat-forward Ardbeg influence, introducing earthy smokiness that intertwines with vanilla and dried fruits. Lighter and silkier than typical heavy stouts, it finishes remarkably dry with an elegant, lingering warmth and a whisper of barrel-derived tannins.

Appearance. Jet black and completely opaque. It pours with a dense, dark tan to mocha-colored head of moderate retention, leaving a fine lacing and visible legs on the glass when swirled, indicating high viscosity.

Aroma. High-intensity aroma featuring a complex blend of roasted coffee and dark chocolate, layered with dark fruits such as plums, raisins, and fruitcake. Prominent barrel-aged notes of vanilla and sweet oak meld with an earthy, peaty smokiness, vinous cognac notes, and a gentle, warming alcohol presence.

Taste. Initial rich impression of dark chocolate and roasted malts, quickly expanding into sweet vanilla, dried fruit, and dark fruitcake flavors. The mid-palate introduces an earthy, peated Ardbeg smoke character. Bittering is medium-high, balancing the residual malty sweetness. The finish is drier than typical examples, with lingering wood oak, tobacco-like smoke, dried fruits, and a clean warmth.

Mouthfeel. Medium-full body with a remarkably silky, velvety, and luxurious texture that is lighter and more fluid than typical heavy imperial stouts. Moderate-low carbonation. A smooth, well-integrated alcohol warmth is present and pleasant, without any hot or harsh fusel sensations.
