This West Coast American IPA is a vibrant showcase of fresh harvest intensity, driven by the rare use of wet Comet hops from Loza Farms alongside Citra from Loftus Ranches. It leads with an explosive citrus profile, dominated by vivid lime zest and sweet lime flesh—reminiscent of lime gelatin—layered over bright tangerine and stone fruit notes like nectarine. A subtle pine undercurrent provides depth, while the wet hop addition contributes a distinctive leafy, resinous bite. The malt remains a clean, supportive backdrop, allowing the lupulin-heavy, double dry-hopped character to finish with a crisp, assertive bitterness and a lingering green, resinous snap.
Appearance. Deep gold to light amber (approx 7 SRM). Brilliant clarity with a medium-sized, persistent off-white head that leaves significant lacing.
Aroma. High to intense hop aroma featuring prominent lime zest, nectarine, and tangerine. A distinctively fresh, leafy 'green' quality from the wet hops is present, supported by a low, clean, grainy malt background and neutral fermentation profile.
Taste. Initial impression is hop-forward and assertive. Strong flavors of lime flesh, tangerine, and nectarine lead into a piney mid-palette. Medium-high bitterness is clean and well-supported by a low, crackery malt base. The finish is dry with a lingering, resinous, leafy aftertaste that emphasizes the wet hop character.
Mouthfeel. Medium body with a smooth, crisp texture. Medium-high carbonation provides a refreshing bite. Very light, smooth alcohol warmth is present but well-integrated at 7% ABV.

It’s been AGES since we made a wet hop beer with Comet. It’s not like we’ve forgotten about it – we have a small, ongoing contract for pellets every year – but the pick window timing rarely works out with our brew schedule. That’s why we were STOKED when Loza Farms – THE Comet Kings – were picking it on a day we found ourselves out there. We also used some Citra from Loftus Ranches. The end result is massive notes of LIME (like zest & flesh, but also green jello?!) along with some tangerine and nectarine and a kiss of pine and leafy, resinous bite at the end. We’ll let this serve as a reminder to NEVER FORGET about that Wapato Comet again!
