This New Zealand Pilsner offers a nuanced interpretation of the style, defined by its lean profile and delicate hop integration. Utilizing Extra Pale Pilsner malt creates a remarkably pale, straw-colored base that drives a dry, crisp finish. The sensory experience is led by expressive New Zealand hops, delivering layered notes of Meyer lemon, tropical passionfruit, and stone fruit apricot. A sophisticated Sauvignon Blanc wine character emerges alongside hints of fresh beach grass and a faint, industrial diesel note. Balanced and bright, it maintains a clean lager structure while showcasing the vibrant, fruity aromatics of the Southern Hemisphere.
Appearance. Straw to very pale gold (2–3 SRM). Topped with a creamy, long-lasting white head with excellent lacing. Brilliant clarity.
Aroma. Moderate to high intensity hop aroma featuring Meyer lemon, passionfruit, and apricot. Distinctive vinous qualities resembling Sauvignon Blanc are present alongside a light grassy character and a subtle diesel-like note. Low malt support of crackery, neutral grain from the Extra Pale Pilsner malt. Clean fermentation profile with no esters.
Taste. Initial impression is hop-forward but delicate. Medium-high hop flavors of citrus zest, gooseberry, and tropical fruit are supported by a light, crackery malt backbone. Hop bitterness is moderate and clean, balancing the lean malt profile without becoming harsh. Fermentation is very clean. The finish is notably dry and crisp with a lingering white wine and citrus aftertaste.
Mouthfeel. Medium-light body with moderate-high carbonation. Smooth and soft on the palate, lacking any harshness or astringency. No alcohol warmth.
