Cloudburst Brewing Exit Velocity
Cloudburst’s Exit Velocity is a quintessential American IPA that swings for the fences with a double dry-hopped profile. The sensory experience is led by a powerful hop quartet where Mosaic drives deep tropical berry sweetness and Amarillo provides a bright, citrusy launch angle. Chinook adds a hard-hitting resinous pine bite, while the classic Cascade lends a floral, grapefruit-driven muscle to the finish. This West Coast expression is built on a lean malt foundation that allows the aggressive bitterness and complex hop oils to dominate. It finishes remarkably clean and dry, making each sip as crisp and impactful as a well-timed home run.
Appearance. Brilliant gold with a slight copper hue. Pours with a dense, persistent white head that leaves intricate lacing on the glass.
Aroma. High intensity hop-forward aroma featuring bright orange citrus and ripe tropical berries. A secondary layer of pungent resinous pine and floral grapefruit develops as it opens. Malt presence is very low, offering only a faint, clean cracker-like support. Fermentation is exceptionally clean with no perceptible esters.
Taste. Initial impression is one of crisp, aggressive bitterness balanced by vibrant hop flavors of grapefruit zest and resinous pine. Mid-palate reveals subtle tropical notes and a hint of orange marmalade. The malt provides a lean, grainy backbone without residual sweetness. Finishes very dry and clean with a long, resinous, and hoppy aftertaste.
Mouthfeel. Medium-light body with a smooth, crisp texture. Carbonation is moderate-high, providing a refreshing prickle that accentuates the dry finish. A very subtle, well-integrated alcohol warmth is present but never harsh.
