Cierzo Brewing Co. Fluorescent Adolescent
Fluorescent Adolescent is a vibrant Double IPA that celebrates hop intensity through a potent blend of Simcoe, Vic Secret, and Bru-1. It pours a deep gold with a persistent white head, releasing a high-intensity bouquet of tropical fruit and resinous pine. The Simcoe provides a firm foundation of grapefruit and evergreen, while the Vic Secret and Bru-1 drive pungent notes of pineapple, passion fruit, and fresh herbs. Despite its strength, the beer remains highly drinkable, balancing a medium-full body with a clean, dry finish. This is a modern, hop-forward expression where the malt serves purely as a neutral platform for explosive tropical character.
Appearance. Deep gold to light orange (7-9 SRM). Massive, persistent, white head with fine bubbles and excellent lacing. Clear to slightly hazy.
Aroma. Intense hop aroma dominated by tropical fruits like pineapple and passion fruit, coupled with resinous pine and citrus peel. Background malt is neutral and light bready. Clean fermentation profile with virtually no esters; subtle, smooth alcohol is present.
Taste. Initial impression is an explosion of hop flavors, specifically pineapple, stone fruit, and resin. High bitterness is firm and clean, providing a structural counterpoint to the hop oils without being harsh. Low, supportive grainy malt character. Finish is dry and crisp with a long, lingering resinous and citrusy aftertaste.
Mouthfeel. Medium-full body with a smooth, velvety texture. Moderate-high carbonation. Restrained, smooth alcohol warmth is present but not solventy. No hop-derived astringency.
