This Kölsch presents a masterful balance of delicate components, characteristic of its Cologne origins. The sensory profile opens with a refined mélange of grainy-sweet German Pilsner malt and subtle floral hop notes. A proprietary yeast strain imparts a faint whisper of pome fruit, notably pear and apple, which integrates seamlessly with the soft malt center. Brilliant and pale, it transitions into a bone-dry finish with a characteristic, refreshing hint of acidity. Extensive cold conditioning ensures a remarkably smooth, clean character that emphasizes precision and drinkability over intensity.
Appearance. Pale straw to light gold (SRM 3-4) with brilliant clarity. Pours with a delicate, fine-beaded white head that leaves light lacing.
Aroma. Low intensity. Subtle grainy-sweet malt aroma with very light bready notes. Delicate esters of apple and pear are present, complemented by a low floral and herbal hop presence.
Taste. Initial impression is soft maltiness followed by a delicate balance of grainy-sweet flavor and low herbal hop character. Moderate-low bitterness provides enough structure to lead into a bone-dry, slightly crisp finish. A light fruitiness persists into the aftertaste, which remains clean and brief.
Mouthfeel. Medium-light body with medium-high carbonation. Smooth and soft texture resulting from extended cold conditioning, with no harshness or alcohol warmth.
