This New Zealand-influenced American Pale Ale showcases the rare Riwaka hop, delivering a vibrant sensory experience defined by its signature gooseberry and sharp citrus notes. Poured with a clear, golden hue, it opens with a moderate intensity of tropical fruit and subtle lime zest. The palate follows with a light, crackery malt base that allows the Riwaka hops to shine, presenting flavors of pink grapefruit and green grape. A gentle, non-intrusive bitterness provides structure without overwhelming the delicate fruit character. The finish is remarkably clean and dry, making for a refreshing, sessionable profile that balances modern New World hop intensity with European elegance.

Appearance. Pale golden (approximately 6 SRM) with a brilliant clarity. Topped by a moderately large, frothy white head with good retention and delicate lacing.

Aroma. Moderately high hop intensity featuring distinctive notes of gooseberry, lime zest, and pink grapefruit. Low neutral, grainy-sweet maltiness provides a clean background, accompanied by very low tropical fruit esters and no fermentation byproducts.

Taste. Leading with a bright hop-forward impression of citrus and green grape. The malt flavor is low and neutral, providing a light bready support. Piwakawaka je jméno vzácného ptáka, který žije pouze na Novém Zélandu. Stejně tak vzácný je i novozélandský chmel Riwaka, který jsme použili na chmelení tohoto piva. Donedávna se tento chmel skoro neexportoval z Nového Zélandu. Jeho výsadba (acreage) byla tak nízká, že si ho místní pivovary raději nechaly pro sebe. Riwaka z poslední sklizně tomuto pivu přináší výrazné angreštovo-citrusové aroma a dodává pivu jemnost. To vše zaobalené lehkým tělem s adekvátní nevtíravou hořkostí.
