Het trappistenbier heeft een alcoholpercentage van 10%. Het bier wordt gemaakt met een mengsel van twee hopvariëteiten, Saar en Hallertau Mittelfruh: beide hopsoorten zijn bekend om hun hoogwaardige kwaliteit en finesse. Zijn unieke smaak is ook het resultaat van een geheim kruid dat aan het recept wordt toegevoegd. Bovendien is dit bier het summum van de ervaring van verscheidene generaties van brouwers die elkaar al meer dan 150 jaar hebben opgevolgd in de Abdij van Scourmont.

La Chimay 150 – nota anche come Chimay 150 Anniversary o Chimay Tappo Verde – è la birra più recente prodotta dal celebre birrificio trappista sito all’interno dell’Abbazia di Scourmont. Concepita nel 2012 in occasione del 150° anniversario del birrificio, la Chimay 150 Tappo Verde viene regolarmente prodotta alla fine dello stesso anno, entrando nella linea classica di Chimay. Dal colore giallo dorato pallido e con una compatta schiuma bianca, la Chimay Tappo Verde presenta un affascinante e complesso bouquet, nel quale spiccano le note speziate e fruttate: bergamotto, lime, coriandolo, menta, rosmarino, eucalipto in evidenza. In bocca risaltano le note speziate e fruttate, accompagnate da una piacevole e leggera nota affumicata: dal corpo rotondo e pieno, la Chimay 150 è dotata di una carbonazione media. Il finale è secco, lievemente amaro e speziato: buona bevibilità e scorrevolezza nascondo il tenore alcolico robusto, che la rende la birra più forte dell’intera produzione di Chimay.

La belgian golden strong ale – strong ale belga dal coloro dorato – è una tipica birra belga dalla lunga tradizione: complessa, robusta, con in evidenza note fruttate, speziate e luppolate in genere.

Chimay è un birrificio trappista con sede nell’omonima località della Vallonia, dove sorge l’Abbazia di Notre-Dame de Scourmont, edificata nel 1850 da alcuni monaci dell’Abbazia di Westvleteren, guidati dall’abate Jordain.

Le birre di Chimay sono stata tre la prime ad avere ricevuto il marchio ATP come Authentic Trappist Product e il birrificio è diventato uno dei due produttori trappisti più grandi del Belgio e nel mondo. Il monastero si impegna nella produzione di formaggi e di birre che garantiscono la sussistenza dei monaci, che interrompono la produzione in concomitanza con le due guerre del novecento.

Fue creada en 2012 para celebrar el 150 aniversario de la cervecería y desde entonces se ha consolidado como una referencia dentro del segmento de cervezas de abadía.

Como una auténtica cerveza trapense, se sitúa dentro del estilo Trapense Strong Golden Ale . Su fermentación en botella y el uso de levaduras autóctonas le confieren un perfil único, con notas especiadas y afrutadas que se combinan con una suavidad en boca excepcional.

La elaboración de Chimay 150 (Green) sigue el método tradicional de las cervezas trapenses. Sus ingredientes incluyen agua pura, malta de cebada, almidón de trigo, azúcar, especias, lúpulo y levadura.
