This powerhouse Double IPA is a sensory tidal wave, inspired by the formidable Spot X surf break. It presents as a massive hazy juice bomb defined by an intense aromatic profile of candied pineapple, tangy passionfruit, and sharp grapefruit. While tropical terpenes provide a lush, fruity core, the beer reveals complex dank undercurrents that ground the experience. Deceptively approachable for its 8.5% strength, it balances high-intensity hop saturation with a smooth, well-integrated alcohol presence. The experience is unapologetically hop-forward, delivering a saturated fruit character that masks its potency before finishing with a clean, lingering resonance.
Appearance. Opaque, hazy pale gold to light orange (SRM 7-9). Features a thick, persistent off-white head with excellent lacing.
Aroma. High intensity hop aroma dominated by candied pineapple, passionfruit, and grapefruit. Pronounced resinous, dank notes and tropical terpenes are supported by a very low, neutral, grainy malt character.
Taste. Initial impression is a burst of tropical fruit flavors, specifically pineapple and passionfruit, followed by grapefruit pith. Moderately high bitterness provides a firm structure but remains smooth and integrated. Finish is medium-dry with a lingering, dank, and fruity aftertaste. Malt is clean and unobtrusive.
Mouthfeel. Medium-full body with a smooth, creamy texture. Moderate carbonation with noticeable but restrained alcohol warmth. No harsh hop astringency.
