This Double IPA presents an intense sensory experience driven by a punchy hop trio. The aroma is dominated by Citra, which provides vibrant notes of grapefruit and lime, while El Dorado introduces layers of tropical fruit and candied watermelon. Bravo hops anchor the profile with a subtle earthy spice and firm bitterness. The use of Pilsner malt and Dextrose ensures a lean, pale, and remarkably dry foundation, allowing the hops to remain the focal point without being weighed down by heavy malt sweetness. At 8.8% ABV, a smooth, clean alcohol warmth emerges on the finish, complementing the crisp, lingering bitterness.
Appearance. Deep gold to light copper with brilliant clarity. Features a moderate-sized, persistent off-white head that leaves intricate lacing as it recedes.
Aroma. High intensity hop aroma featuring prominent notes of grapefruit, tropical mango, and a hint of spicy resin. A clean, neutral, and slightly grainy malt character provides a background for the hop-derived esters. Light, clean alcohol is detectable.
Taste. Initial impression is an explosion of citrus and stone fruit flavors followed by a moderately high, firm bitterness that remains smooth. The Pilsner malt provides a soft, unobtrusive base, leading to a very dry finish enhanced by the addition of Dextrose. A lingering hoppy, resinous aftertaste persists without harshness.
Mouthfeel. Medium-light to medium body with a smooth, slightly oily texture. Carbonation is medium-high. A noticeable but well-integrated alcohol warmth is present, providing a pleasant glow without fusel heat.
