AMERIKA is an assertive, old-school American IPA that celebrates the resinous and robust character of classic West Coast examples. Balancing a sturdy 6.5% ABV, this amber-hued ale lead with a punchy aromatic profile of sticky pine resin and grapefruit peel. The palate is defined by a firm, persistent bitterness that cuts through a supportive, slightly toasted malt backbone, offering hints of light caramel. It maintains a clean fermentation profile, allowing the pungent, woody, and citrusy hop oils to dominate from the first sip through to a crisp, lingeringly bitter, and bone-dry finish.
Appearance.Deep gold to light reddish-amber (10-14 SRM); excellent clarity with a tall, off-white, persistent head that leaves significant lacing on the glass.
Aroma.High intensity hop aroma featuring dominant notes of pine resin, cedar, and bright grapefruit. A secondary, medium-low malt presence provides subtle toasted bread and light caramel sweetness, while the fermentation remains clean with only a hint of citrusy esters.
Taste.Initial impression is a sharp, clean bitterness that remains prominent throughout. Hop flavors of resin and citrus pith are medium-high, supported by a grainy, slightly bready malt character with faint caramel notes. The balance is decidedly hop-forward, leading to a very dry finish and a long, hoppy aftertaste without harshness.
Mouthfeel.Medium body with a smooth, slightly oily texture from hop resins. Medium-high carbonation provides a crisp bite. A very light, well-integrated alcohol warmth is noticeable but smooth.
