This commanding Imperial Stout delivers an intense, multi-layered sensory experience, showcasing a dense and powerful profile. On the palate, its immense, silky texture carries rich waves of bittersweet cocoa and roasted coffee, balanced by a firm hop bitterness. Despite its potent strength, the warming, liquor-like alcohol character is masterfully integrated, contributing to a smooth, velvety finish that lingers with a satisfying, roasty complexity.
Appearance. Jet black and completely opaque. Pours with a thick, persistent deep tan head that leaves dense lacing on the glass. Pronounced viscosity is visible in the slow-moving legs when swirled.
Aroma. High intensity. Prominent roasted malt character of espresso coffee, dark bittersweet chocolate, and cocoa. A distinct yet well-integrated smoked wood note weaves through the roast. Low esters of dark raisin and plum, accompanied by a noticeable but smooth liquor-like alcohol warmth. Hop aroma is very low.
Taste. Initial impression is rich, sweet, and deeply roasty. Dominant flavors of dark chocolate, French roast coffee, and caramelized sugar, beautifully balanced by a clean, integrated smoky undertone. Bitterness is firm but supportive, never harsh. Finishes moderately dry with a lingering espresso bitterness, warming alcohol, and a touch of sweet cocoa.
Mouthfeel. Full and highly viscous body with a dense, chewy texture. Velvety and exceptionally silky on the palate despite its high strength. Low to moderate carbonation. Noticeable, soothing alcohol warmth that is well-integrated and never sharp.
