This collaboration Double IPA delivers a high-altitude sensory experience, reflecting the mountain-driven passion of Szot and Coast Mountain Brewing. At 8% ABV, it presents an intense aromatic profile dominated by resinous pine and bright citrus, reminiscent of a crisp alpine forest. A clean, neutral malt backbone provides a lean foundation, allowing complex notes of tropical fruit and grapefruit to lead the charge. Despite its strength, the beer maintains a dry, crisp finish with a firm, integrated bitterness that invites another sip. It is an assertive, punchy ale that balances power with refreshing drinkability, embodying a shared love for the rugged outdoors.
Appearance. Gold to light orange-copper (SRM 7-12). Good clarity with a moderate-sized, persistent, off-white head that leaves resilient lacing.
Aroma. High intensity hop aroma featuring pine resin, zest of citrus, and underlying tropical fruit. The malt character is low and grainy, providing a clean canvas for a light, fruity fermentation profile and a hint of smooth alcohol.
Taste. Initial punch of citrus and pine hops followed by a moderately high bitterness that remains clean rather than harsh. A low, supportive malt presence offers a soft, bready touch without significant caramel. The finish is notably dry and crisp, with a lingering hoppy aftertaste.
Mouthfeel. Medium body with a smooth, velvety texture. Carbonation is moderate to high, providing a lively prickle. Restrained, integrated alcohol warmth is present, without any hop-derived astringency.
