Hypermodern II is a vibrant Hazy IPA that showcases the synergistic pairing of Citra and the New Zealand-grown Riwaka. This bright, hazy pour emits a powerful bouquet of citrus and tropical fruit, where Citra’s grapefruit notes meet Riwaka’s exotic lemon and Kumquat (Kinkan) zest. The sensory experience is defined by its soft, pillowy texture and a juicy profile that prioritizes hop aromatics over sharp bitterness. A gentle bready malt base supports the intense fruit layers, leading to a smooth, off-dry finish that remains refreshingly drinkable despite its aromatic complexity and modern hop-forward design.
Appearance. Pale straw to light gold (4-5 SRM) with a deep, uniform haze and luminous shine. It features a dense, persistent, meringue-like white head with high retention and thick lacing.
Aroma. High intensity hop aroma dominated by grapefruit, lemon zest, and exotic Kumquat. Secondary notes of mango and passion fruit are evident, supported by a clean, neutral, grainy malt character without any caramel or toastiness.
Taste. High fruity hop flavor mirroring the aroma with prominent lemon, grapefruit, and tropical fruit. Low to medium bready malt flavor provides a soft foundation. Bitterness is moderate but perceived as smooth and non-harsh, leading to a juicy, off-dry finish with a lingering citrus aftertaste.
Mouthfeel. Medium body with a soft, smooth, and slightly creamy texture. Carbonation is moderate. No astringency or harshness is present, and alcohol warmth is very low and well-integrated.
