This American Pale Ale showcases the vibrant synergy between premium malt and singular hop focus. The use of Scottish Golden Promise malt establishes a distinctive graham cracker foundation, providing a rich yet clean backdrop for the heavy-handed addition of Citra hops. Intensely aromatic, the profile bursts with tropical layers of ripe mango and pineapple, complemented by bright mandarin and zesty citrus notes. It balances modern, juicy fruit character with a classic, firm bitterness. The result is a highly drinkable, medium-bodied ale where the honeyed sweetness of the grain perfectly offsets the lush, fruit-forward intensity of the hops.
Appearance. Pale golden to light amber (6–8 SRM). Topped with a moderately large, creamy white head that exhibits excellent retention and leaves fine lacing. Generally clear with a brilliant luster.
Aroma. High intensity hop aroma dominated by Citra, displaying punchy notes of tropical mango, crushed pineapple, and bright mandarin orange. Supporting this is a moderate, sweet-grainy malt character reminiscent of graham crackers and light honey from the Golden Promise. Low neutral fermentation esters; no diacetyl.
Taste. Initial impression is hop-forward and juicy. Flavors of mango and citrus zest lead, followed by a sturdy malt backbone of bready, graham cracker-like sweetness. Moderate to high bitterness provides a clean counterpoint to the fruit. The finish is dry to medium-dry, with a lingering hop-driven aftertaste of tropical fruit and light resin.
Mouthfeel. Medium-light to medium body with a smooth, soft texture. Moderate to high carbonation provides a crisp, refreshing lift. Minimal alcohol warmth. Free from astringency or harshness.
