Celestial Beerworks Odysseus is an opulent Double IPA that masks its formidable strength with a dangerously smooth profile. Featuring heavy dry-hop additions of Vic Secret and Citra, the sensory experience is dominated by lush waves of pineapple, mango, and bright citrus. A deliberate zero IBU approach eliminates traditional hot-side bitterness, allowing the tropical fruit esters to shine alongside a subtle, grounding dankness. Despite its high strength, the beer remains impeccably drinkable with a creamy, soft texture. This modern interpretation prioritizes juicy saturation and a supple mouthfeel over aggressive bitterness, resulting in an ultra-juicy, tropical experience that hides its potency remarkably well.

Appearance. Deep gold to light orange (SRM 6-9) with a pronounced, opaque haze consistent with modern interpretations. Features a thick, persistent, creamy white head that leaves dense lacing on the glass.

Aroma. Intensity is high, driven by pungent New World hops. Strong notes of ripe pineapple and passionfruit from Vic Secret are layered over mango and citrus zest from Citra. A supportive, neutral grainy malt character sits in the far background, accompanied by a subtle, resinous dankness and clean fermentation esters.

Taste. Initial impression is a fruit-forward explosion of pineapple nectar, mango, and tangerine. The hop flavor is intense and saturated but devoid of sharp bitterness, reflecting the dry-hop-only process. Malt flavor is low and clean, providing a soft, bready foundation. The finish is smooth and juicy with a lingering tropical sweetness, lacking any harsh hop bite or phenolic edges.

Mouthfeel. Medium-full to full body with a creamy, velvety texture. Carbonation is moderate, contributing to a soft, pillowy sensation. Alcohol warmth is surprisingly restrained for its strength, feeling well-integrated and smooth rather than solventy or hot.
