This decadent Imperial Stout, a collaboration with LDU Coffee, pours with an imposing depth, immediately releasing aromas of toasted graham cracker and sweet marshmallow. The inclusion of Magic Bean Juice provides a luxurious chocolatey richness that anchors the sensory experience. On the palate, a bold espresso presence offers a sophisticated acidity, reminiscent of melting a bar of chocolate over fresh espresso. Layers of fudge and s'mores evolve into a long, warming finish where lingering notes of roasted coffee bean and cocoa reside. It is a harmonious, velvety beer where the intense roast and sweetness create a complex, dessert-like profile.
Appearance. 40 SRM; jet black and completely opaque. Dense, persistent dark tan head with excellent lacing and visible legs due to high viscosity.
Aroma. High intensity; rich roasted malt character featuring dark chocolate and cocoa. Distinctive espresso and fresh coffee bean notes. Sweet secondary aromas of marshmallow and honeyed graham cracker. Low earthy hops and a gentle, clean alcohol presence.
Taste. Initial impression is of sweet fudge and toasted marshmallow, quickly followed by a deep, roasty espresso bitterness. The malt profile is complex, highlighting bread crust and graham cracker. Moderate bitterness is well-integrated with the residual sweetness. The finish is long and luxurious, with echoing notes of bittersweet chocolate and espresso.
Mouthfeel. Full-bodied and chewy with a velvety, luscious texture. Carbonation is moderate. A noticeable, smooth alcohol warmth is present but well-integrated, not sharp.
