Andromeda is an exceptionally soft and expressive Double IPA that redefines intensity through its "Zero IBU" approach. By utilizing only dry-hopping, the beer showcases the pure, lupulin-rich essence of Vic Secret and Mosaic without the typical aggressive bite. The profile is dominated by a tropical explosion of ripe pineapple and succulent peach, complemented by bright, citrusy notes of grapefruit and easy-to-peel clementine. A velvety, pillowy mouthfeel supports the massive hop load, while the clean malt base allows the intricate fruit character to remain ultra-bright and incredibly juicy, finishing with a smooth, lush persistence.
Appearance. Pours a deep gold to light orange-copper with a moderate haze. It is topped by a dense, persistent white head that leaves consistent lacing as it recedes.
Aroma. Intense hop aroma featuring a complex blend of tropical and citrus fruit. Prominent pineapple and passionfruit notes from the Vic Secret hops are layered with Mosaic-driven scents of grapefruit, stone fruit, and sweet clementine. A neutral, grainy malt character remains in the far background.
Taste. Initial impression is a saturated wash of tropical fruit, specifically pineapple and fuzzy peach. Citrus flavors of grapefruit and sweet orange provide a bright counterpoint. In a departure from style norms, the hop bitterness is extremely low, allowing for a smooth, juicy finish without any harshness. The malt flavor is clean and unobtrusive, providing a soft, supportive base.
Mouthfeel. Medium-full body with a remarkably soft, velvety, and pillowy texture. Carbonation is moderate. A light, well-integrated alcohol warmth is present but remains smooth and restrained, lacking any hop-derived astringency.
