88 Super is an elevated expression of a Belgian Dubbel, integrating a robust malt foundation with the floral complexity of honey. It presents a deep copper hue topped with a dense, cream-colored foam. The sensory profile is defined by rich toasted cereal notes and a distinctive honeyed sweetness, harmonizing with characteristic Belgian ale yeast esters reminiscent of raisins and plums. While the malt and honey provide an initial impression of sweetness, the beer maintains the stylistic tradition of a moderately dry, clean finish. At 8% ABV, it offers a sophisticated warmth that complements its spicy, peppery phenolic undertones and full-bodied texture.
Appearance. Deep reddish-copper color (14–17 SRM). Brilliant clarity. Features a large, dense, and long-lasting creamy off-white head with excellent lacing.
Aroma. Moderate to high intensity. Prominent toasted malt and cereal grain aromas are layered with floral honey. Moderate dark fruit esters, specifically raisin and plum, are balanced by low peppery phenols. No detectable hop aroma.
Taste. Toasted malt and caramelized sugar flavors are primary, accented by the floral depth of honey. Medium-low bitterness provides just enough balance for the rich malt profile. Yeast-derived esters of dried fruit and spicy phenols add complexity. Finishes moderately dry with a lingering malty and honeyed aftertaste.
Mouthfeel. Medium-full body with a smooth, creamy texture. Medium-high carbonation provides a lively mouth-coating sensation. Noticeable, well-integrated alcohol warmth without being hot or solventy.
