Caravelle Jelly Belly Milkshake IPA
This vibrant Southern Hemisphere-inspired Hazy IPA pours with an inviting, opaque golden radiance. An intense tropical bouquet immediately takes center stage, driven by the distinct passionfruit and peach notes of Galaxy, complemented by the gooseberry and white wine complexity of Nelson. Underneath, Ella contributes bright grapefruit and delicate floral undertones, while Enigma adds a unique layer of red currant and crushed grape. A soft, creamy sweetness from lactose creates a luxurious, milkshake-like texture, smoothing out the palate. It finishes with incredibly low bitterness and a lingering, juicy, fruit-salad sweetness that remains remarkably drinkable.
Appearance. Color is deep gold to light amber (approx. 6 SRM), highly hazy to opaque with a luminous, healthy glow. Features a thick, rocky, meringue-like white head with exceptional retention and dense, clingy lacing. No visible yeast clumps or particulate floaties.
Aroma. High to intense aroma dominated by a tropical and vinous hop profile. Prominent notes of passionfruit, ripe peach, white grape, gooseberry, and red currant, with a subtle floral and citrusy undertone. Low, sweet, milky/creamy lactose notes blend with a clean, bready, and lightly doughy wheat malt background. Esters are clean and highly fruity, supporting the hop character without any harsh alcohol or yeast-derived phenols.
Taste. Initial impression is of sweet tropical juice and soft cream. Massive hop flavors of passionfruit, white wine, gooseberry, and berry fruits. Malt flavor is low, presenting as a clean, bready, and slightly sweet canvas enhanced by a smooth lactose sweetness. Perceived bitterness is very low, completely masked by the sweet, full body. Fermentation is clean and ester-forward. Finishes off-dry to sweet and intensely juicy with a soft, lingering fruit-punch aftertaste and no hop burn.
Mouthfeel. Medium-full to full body with a remarkably smooth, creamy, and velvety texture, enhanced by lactose. Carbonation is moderate. Alcohol warmth is light and well-integrated. Zero astringency or harsh hop burn; lacks any raw starch texture or acidic twang.
