This imperial-strength take on a German Pils, crafted as an Indian Pilsner, offers a bold sensory experience featuring Polaris, Simcoe, and Cascade hops. A brilliant golden pour reveals a complex bouquet of citrus, tropical fruit, and resinous pine, layered over a delicate, grainy Pilsen malt base. Despite its potent 8.2% ABV, the lager fermentation ensures a remarkably clean profile. Appearance. Golden blonde (4-6 SRM) with brilliant clarity. Pours with a dense, creamy, off-white head that exhibits excellent persistence and leaves intricate lacing on the glass.
Aroma. High intensity. Prominent notes of grapefruit and orange zest from Cascade, coupled with resinous pine and tropical fruit highlights from Simcoe. The Polaris hops contribute a subtle cooling, floral edge. A low, clean grainy-sweet malt character from the Pilsen base provides a light toasted cracker background. Fermentation is exceptionally clean with no fruity esters.
Taste. The flavor is defined by a massive hop presence, featuring layers of citrus rind, pine needles, and ripe mango. A firm, assertive hop bitterness quickly overcomes the light, doughy Pilsen malt sweetness. Despite the high alcohol, the mid-palate remains relatively lean. The finish is very dry and crisp with a clean, lingering bitterness and a touch of resinous hop oil in the aftertaste.
Mouthfeel. Medium body with a smooth, slightly oily texture from hop concentrations. Moderate carbonation. A noticeable and pleasant alcohol warmth reflects the 8.2% ABV without being hot or fusel. Lacks any harshness or astringency.
