Cape May White presents a coastal take on the traditional Weissbier, blending the soft, bready foundation of malted wheat and Pilsner malt with a bright, citrus-forward twist. Fermented with a characterful Belgian yeast, it offers a vibrant bouquet of banana and clove, further amplified by the zesty addition of orange and lemon peels. Subtle herbal accents of coriander and the delicate, peppery warmth of grains of paradise weave through the aroma and palate. This refreshing ale finishes remarkably clean and dry, sustained by a fluffy, effervescent mouthfeel that highlights its fruity esters and spice-driven complexity.
Appearance. Pours a pale straw to gold color with a significant haze from the wheat and yeast proteins. It is topped by a very thick, moussy, and long-lasting white head that leaves consistent lacing on the glass.
Aroma. High intensity featuring a prominent balance of banana esters and spicy clove phenols. The malt profile is bready and doughy, characteristic of a high wheat grist. Distinctive additions of orange and lemon peels provide a bright citrus layer, complemented by the herbal, peppery notes of coriander and grains of paradise.
Taste. Initial impression is refreshing and soft, leading into bready and grainy-sweet malt flavors. The palate is defined by moderate banana and clove yeast character, enhanced by zesty citrus peel and a hint of peppery spice. Bitterness is very low, providing just enough structure to support a relatively dry and clean finish. Light floral hop notes are barely perceptible in the background.
Mouthfeel. Medium-light body with a fluffy, creamy fullness that never feels heavy. Carbonation is high and spritzy, creating an effervescent sensation on the tongue. There is no notable astringency, and the 5.2% ABV provides a very subtle, well-integrated warmth.
