Cape May Brewing Co. Bay Daze
Bay Daze is a refreshing Wild Specialty Beer designed for sessionability at 4.7% ABV. It opens with a vibrant, tart profile where zesty lime citrus meets the soft, fruity notes of cherry. The sensory experience is defined by its crispness and light body, evoking a clean, lactic acidity that heightens the bright fruit character. Without the weight of heavy malts or assertive hops, the focus remains on the interplay between the tangy lime and the subtle, sun-ripened cherry esters. This sour ale finishes bone-dry and effervescent, making it an ideal companion for warm afternoons spent relaxing by the water.
Appearance. Pale pink to light ruby hue (SRM 5-8). Pours with a moderate white head that dissipates fairly quickly, leaving light lacing. Slight haze is present, common for fruited wild ales.
Aroma. Moderate to high intensity of tart lime zest and fresh cherry. A clean, lactic acidity provides a sharp backbone. Very low doughy malt scent; no hop aroma or fermentation byproducts like diacetyl are present.
Taste. Initial sharp, lactic tartness followed by flavors of unsweetened cherry and bright lime juice. Minimal hop bitterness allows the acidity to drive the balance. Malt flavor is very low and neutral. Finishes very dry and clean with a lingering citrus tang.
Mouthfeel. Light body with high carbonation that produces a prickly, refreshing sensation. Very low astringency from the lime zest. No perceived alcohol warmth due to the sessionable ABV.
