This English IPA balances traditional British brewing with a modern American hop profile. The use of Citra and Chinook hops provides a vibrant sensory bridge, delivering bold bursts of grapefruit, lime, and resinous pine over a foundational bready malt backbone. Brewed at 6% ABV, it maintains the classic dry, well-attenuated character of a traditional export ale while leaning into a punchy, assertive bitterness that defines the style. A clean, mineral-forward finish highlights the interplay between toasted biscuit notes and citrus zest, resulting in a robust, hop-forward experience that honors its heritage with a loud, contemporary edge.
Appearance. Deep golden to pale amber (8–12 SRM). Exhibits a slight haze from the heavy dry-hopping, topped with a moderate-sized, persistent off-white head that leaves consistent lacing.
Aroma. Moderately high intensity. Pronounced citrus-orange and grapefruit notes from the Citra hops are balanced by the spicy, piney character of Chinook. A supportive bready and biscuity malt presence underpins the hops, with low fruity esters and a subtle mineral note.
Taste. Initial hop flavors of grapefruit zest and resinous pine are assertive, leading into a medium-low bready malt center with hints of light caramel. The bitterness is firm and punchy, as expected for the style, but remains clean. It finishes medium-dry with a lingering, hop-driven bitterness that avoids harshness.
Mouthfeel. Medium body with a smooth texture. Carbonation is medium-high, enhancing the dry finish. A low, well-integrated alcohol warmth is present at 6% ABV, without any hop-derived astringency.
