This commanding Doppelbock presents a deep ruby hue, bordering on black, crowned by a resilient, creamy head. The olfactory profile is defined by a sophisticated interplay of spicy chocolate and rich Maillard products, complemented by delicate whispers of vanilla and deep caramel. On the palate, it delivers a luxurious, velvety texture and a full-bodied presence, where indulgent malt sweetness is expertly counterbalanced by a clean lager fermentation and a faint bitterness. Appearance. Dark ruby to nearly black (SRM 22-25) with excellent clarity; features a large, creamy, tan-colored head with exceptional retention and decorative lacing.
Aroma. High intensity of rich, bready malt and toasted Maillard products; prominent notes of spicy chocolate, dark caramel, and a hint of vanilla. Very low dark fruit esters reminiscent of plums; hop aroma is absent.
Taste. Initial impression is deeply malty and sweet, showcasing layers of caramel and velvety chocolate. Low hop bitterness provides just enough balance to prevent cloying, while the finish remains clean and well-attenuated. Complex malt flavors persist into the aftertaste with a soft, rounded character and no roasted or burnt harshness.
