This Hazy IPA showcases a vibrant double dry-hopped profile driven by New Zealand Nelson Sauvin and Motueka hops. It pours with a luminous, opaque glow, releasing a complex bouquet of white grape and fresh kiwi. The Nelson Sauvin imparts a distinctive, slightly pungent rubber or diesel-like note that adds intriguing depth to the tropical base. On the palate, expect a soft, plush texture with flavors of lime zest and crushed gooseberry, balanced by a gentle, integrated bitterness. At 6.5% ABV, it maintains excellent drinkability while delivering a lush, fruit-forward experience that highlights the unique terroir of Southern Hemisphere hops.

Appearance. SRM 4. Deep straw to light gold with a distinct, opaque haze and a luminous shine. Topped by a dense, white, meringue-like head with excellent retention and thick lacing.

Aroma. High intensity hop-forward aroma featuring prominent notes of white wine grapes, kiwi, and lime zest. The signature Nelson Sauvin character provides a unique, slightly pungent rubber or diesel-like undertone. Background malt is clean and bready with no caramel or toast. Fermentation esters are fruity and well-integrated.

Taste. Initial impression is a burst of tropical and pomaceous fruit, including gooseberry, grape, and lime. Low to medium-high bitterness is present but feels smooth and restrained against the soft malt backdrop. Malt flavor is low, suggesting light grain and bread. The finish is off-dry to medium, lingering with a pleasant juicy hop aftertaste and no harshness.

Mouthfeel. Medium-full body with a soft, silky, and rounded mouthfeel. Carbonation is moderate. There is a very light, well-integrated alcohol warmth. No astringency or raw starch texture.

De brouwerij Caleya ontstond in 2001, toen Gonzaga, César “Pinchu” en Silver gingen studeren aan de Ponferrada Filmschool. Tussen het ene bier en het andere ontstond de interesse om zelf bier te maken en in 2010 begonnen de ideeën vorm te krijgen en werd Cervezas Caleya al snel geboren. Onder het motto ‘heerlijk bier maken en niet rijk worden van bier’ begonnen de vrienden de eerste stappen te zetten, waarbij het profiel van de brouwerij werd gefocust binnen het streven naar duurzaamheid. Een brouwerij die kwaliteit, exotisme en eigenaardigheid als kenmerken van haar identiteit verkondigt.
