Wyoming Sheep Ranch is an assertive Double IPA that captures the essence of a coniferous forest. It presents an intense sensory profile dominated by fresh pine and resinous aromas that leap from the glass. On the palate, the hop character is unapologetically bold, delivering a sharp, palate-scrubbing bitterness that defines the experience. Despite its 9% ABV, the beer remains remarkably drinkable, supported by a clean, unobtrusive malt backbone that allows the hops to remain the focal point. The finish is strikingly dry and lingering, characterized by a persistent resinous depth and a smooth, integrated alcohol warmth.
Appearance.Deep gold to light copper (SRM 8-12). Brilliant clarity with a moderate-sized, persistent off-white head that leaves significant lacing.
Aroma.High intensity hop aroma dominated by fresh pine, resin, and a hint of citrus zest. Supportive malt is clean and neutral with light grainy notes. Fermentation is clean with very low fruity esters.
Taste.Initial impression is a massive wave of hop flavor featuring resin and pine needles. Bitterness is very high and firm but stops short of being harsh. Malt is soft and unobtrusive, providing a light bready character. The finish is very dry with a long, lingering hoppy bitterness.
Mouthfeel.Medium-full body with a smooth, creamy texture. Carbonation is medium-high. A noticeable but well-integrated alcohol warmth is present, without any hop-derived astringency.
