This collaboration between Buxton and Omnipollo delivers a monumental Imperial Stout that pours with the viscosity of motor oil. The sensory experience is dominated by an overwhelming intensity of bittersweet chocolate and heavily roasted coffee beans. Deep layers of dark fruit, specifically prunes and figs, emerge through a dense, velvety texture. While the significant roasted malt bill provides a massive, chewy foundation, the high alcohol content is masterfully integrated, offering a smooth, persistent warmth rather than a sharp burn. The finish is decadently long, balancing charred grain bitterness with a rich, lingering sweetness and a complex interplay of dark-roasted character.

Appearance. Jet black and completely opaque (40+ SRM). It supports a dense, creamy, deep tan head with moderate retention. Due to high viscosity and alcohol, thick legs are visible on the glass.

Aroma. High intensity with a complex blend of dark chocolate, espresso, and black licorice. Significant dark fruit esters suggest raisins and figs. A clean, warming alcohol presence is noticeable alongside a subtle, nutty sweetness and toasted malt character.

Taste. Initial impression is of intense bittersweet cocoa, roasted grains, and dark-roasted coffee. The middle palate reveals layers of dried plum and molasses. Bitterness is firm and provides a necessary counterpoint to the heavy malt sweetness. The finish is lingering and complex, displaying notes of charred grain and a hint of vanilla-like sweetness.

Mouthfeel. Full to very full-bodied with a luscious, chewy, and velvety texture. Carbonation is low to moderate. A significant but smooth alcohol warmth coats the throat without being solventy or harsh.
