The sensory experience is dominated by an overwhelming intensity of bittersweet chocolate and heavily roasted coffee beans. Deep layers of dark fruit, specifically prunes and figs, emerge through a dense, velvety texture. While the significant roasted malt bill provides a massive, chewy foundation, the high alcohol content is masterfully integrated, offering a smooth, persistent warmth rather than a sharp burn. The finish is decadently long, balancing charred grain bitterness with a rich, lingering sweetness and a complex interplay of dark-roasted character.
Appearance.Jet black and completely opaque (40+ SRM). It supports a dense, creamy, deep tan head with moderate retention. Due to high viscosity and alcohol, thick legs are visible on the glass.
Aroma.High intensity with a complex blend of dark chocolate, espresso, and black licorice. Significant dark fruit esters suggest raisins and figs. A clean, warming alcohol presence is noticeable alongside a subtle, nutty sweetness and toasted malt character.
Taste.Initial impression is of intense bittersweet cocoa, roasted grains, and dark-roasted coffee. The middle palate reveals layers of dried plum and molasses.
