Merced is a vibrant American IPA that masterfully bridges classic West Coast structure with Southern Hemisphere flair. Its sensory profile is defined by an explosive fruit cocktail character driven by Galaxy and Nelson Sauvin, offering intense layers of passion fruit, crushed white grapes, and gooseberry. Motueka contributes a sharp, citrusy lime brightness, while the addition of Lórien lends nuanced floral and melon notes. The beer maintains a lean, grainy malt foundation that allows the assertive bitterness to remain clean and focused. A dry, resinous finish ensures each sip remains refreshing, highlighting a complex interplay of tropical and floral hop aromatics.
Appearance. Deep gold (7 SRM) with brilliant clarity. Features a persistent, frothy white head that leaves significant lacing on the glass.
Aroma. High intensity hop aroma featuring tropical passion fruit, lime zest, and white wine grapes. Low, clean, bready malt sweetness supports a complex bouquet of melon and wild flowers. Fermentation is very clean with negligible esters.
Taste. Immediate impact of resinous bitterness and citrus oils. Prominent flavors of tropical fruit and lime follow, supported by a medium-low grainy malt character. The balance is heavily hop-forward, leading to a crisp, dry finish with a lingering, clean bitterness and fruit-skin aftertaste.
Mouthfeel. Medium-light body with a smooth, crisp texture. Carbonation is medium-high, providing a lively prickle on the tongue. A subtle, well-integrated alcohol warmth is present.
