Buxton Brewery Lemon Slayed

This Radler offers an invigorating sensory experience, capturing the essence of a Bavarian summer. Dominated by the bright, zesty aroma of freshly squeezed lemon, the profile is underpinned by a delicate, doughy malt foundation that provides just enough structure without overcomplicating the palate. The appearance is a pale, sun-bleached straw with a lively, effervescent white head. On the tongue, the sharp, citrusy acidity of the lemon is balanced by a subtle, cracker-like sweetness, leading to a bone-dry and remarkably crisp finish. It is exceptionally light-bodied and highly carbonated, making it a quintessential, crushable refreshment for warm afternoons in the Peak District.
Appearance. Pale straw (2-3 SRM) with a slight, natural citrus haze. Topped by a bright white, frothy head with moderate to low retention and minimal lacing.
Aroma. High intensity of zesty lemon peel and freshly squeezed citrus juice. A faint, clean malt sweetness suggestive of cracker or white bread resides in the background. No hop aroma or fermentation esters are present.
Taste. Initial impression is a sharp, refreshing burst of tart lemon. The malt flavor is very low, providing a light grainy sweetness that balances the acidity. Hop bitterness is minimal, as the citrus character provides the primary structure. Finishes very clean and dry with a lingering lemony zest.
Mouthfeel. Light-bodied and thin. Carbonation is high, creating a prickly, spritzy mouthfeel that enhances the refreshment. No alcohol warmth or astringency.

From the brewery:

Born from Bavarian brilliance, the Radler was originally whipped up in the 1920’s when a German innkeeper needed to attenuate his beer to serve a sudden horde of cyclists. Inspired by thirsty German cyclists and reimagined for Peak District pint-chasers, Lemon Slayed is the perfect sunshine sipper: a refreshing fusion designed for long hikes, lazy afternoons, and accidental sunburns.

Lemon Slayed, a citrusy, crushable Radler clocks in at a breezy 2.5% ABV. Light on the booze, heavy on the refreshment, and 100% vegan for your plant-powered pleasure! Expect notes of freshly squeezed lemon, a tickle of malt, and just enough fizz to take your taste buds up a gear.

Whether you’re cycling, strolling, or strategically horizontal, Lemon Slayed is your new summer refreshment.
