Hazy Harlequin presents a contemporary take on the Hazy IPA, utilizing the distinct Harlequin hop to deliver a vibrant sensory experience. A thick, opaque golden pour leads into an aromatic explosion of sun-ripened peach, nectarine, and passion fruit, characteristic of the Harlequin variety. On the palate, the hop-forward profile mirrors the nose with lush tropical notes and a soft, pillowy mouthfeel that masks its approachable sessionable strength. Despite the lower alcohol content, the beer maintains a significant hop presence with a restrained bitterness, finishing with a delicate grainy sweetness and a lingering fruity essence that defines the modern British cask approach to the style.
Appearance. Straw to pale gold (3-5 SRM). High opacity with a characteristic hazy shine; no visible particulates. Massive, rocky, meringue-like white head with excellent retention and lacing.
Aroma. High intensity hop aroma dominated by ripened stone fruit (peach, apricot) and tropical fruit (pineapple, passion fruit). Background malt is clean, lightly bready, and neutral. No caramel or toast. Fermentation is clean with supportive fruity esters that complement the Harlequin hop profile.
Taste. Very high fruity hop flavor featuring peach and tropical mango. Low bready, grainy malt flavor provides a subtle foundation. Perceived bitterness is low to medium-low, well-masked by a soft, rounded mouthfeel. The finish is off-dry and smooth, featuring a lingering fruit-skin hop character without any harshness or astringency.
Mouthfeel. Medium body with a soft, plush texture. Carbonation is moderate and smooth. No alcohol warmth is perceived. Lacks any acidic twang or raw starchiness, providing a silky impression on the palate.
