Burnt Mill Brewery

Green Hills captures the vibrant energy of the hop harvest as a fresh Green Hop American IPA. The immediate sensory impact is driven by whirlpool additions of fresh Ernest hops, imparting lush aromas of sun-ripened apricot and stone fruit. This harvest-fresh brightness is anchored by a classic West Coast dry-hop blend of Amarillo, Chinook, and Columbus. These varieties layer complex notes of zestful orange and grapefruit against a rugged backdrop of fresh pine and cracked black pepper. A clean, grainy malt base supports the intense hop profile, culminating in a crisp, decidedly bitter finish that lingers with resinous persistence.

Appearance. Deep gold to pale amber (7-9 SRM). Pours with a brilliant clarity, though a very faint harvest-fresh haze may be present. Topped by a medium-sized, persistent white head with excellent lacing.

Aroma. High intensity hop-forward bouquet. Dominant fresh apricot and nectarine from the Ernest hops, intertwined with vibrant orange zest. Secondary notes of resinous pine, spicy pepper, and a subtle floral undertone. Malt is low and clean, providing a neutral grainy background.

Taste. Initial punch of citrus and stone fruit flavors. Robust hop bitterness emerges quickly, featuring grapefruit pith and forest pine from the Chinook and Columbus. Low grainy malt sweetness provides brief support before a dry, crisp finish. Aftertaste is hoppy and clean with a moreish, resinous quality.

Mouthfeel. Medium body with a smooth, slightly oily hop texture. Moderate-high carbonation creates a refreshing, stinging crispness. Minimal alcohol warmth at 6% ABV, with no harsh astringency despite the green hop volume.
