Equal Measures is a vibrant, modern take on the Best Bitter, presenting a rich copper hue from its amber and crystal malt base. On the nose, a traditional bready backbone is elevated by the contemporary dry-hopping of Azacca and Ernest, delivering bright bursts of citrus and apricot. The palate is defined by a steady, moreish bitterness from Challenger hops that weaves through layers of toasted biscuit and light caramel. Subtle notes of gentle spice and stone fruit linger into a clean, dry finish, balancing classic British drinkability with a sharp, fruity aromatic profile driven by its unique hop blend.
Appearance. Medium copper in color with brilliant clarity. Pours with a moderate, off-white head that shows good retention and leaves light lacing on the glass.
Aroma. Moderate to high intensity. A base of bready and toasted biscuit malt is complemented by sweet caramel notes. The hop character is prominent, featuring zesty citrus from Azacca, ripe stone fruit from Ernest, and a subtle earthy spice from Challenger. Low fruity esters of red apple and pear are present.
Taste. Initial impression is of bready malt and toasted grains. The mid-palate introduces flavors of orange peel and peach, followed by a firm, steady hop bitterness. Hop flavors are fruity and slightly resinous. The balance is decidedly bitter but supported by the amber and crystal malt sweetness. Finishes dry and clean with a lingering fruity and spicy aftertaste.
Mouthfeel. Medium-light body with moderate carbonation. Smooth and highly drinkable with no astringency. A very light, well-integrated alcohol warmth is present.
