Cool River is a vibrant American Pale Ale that captures the essence of the West Coast style with its luminous clarity and assertive hop profile. The sensory experience is dominated by a lively interplay of Citra and El Dorado, yielding bright notes of tropical mango and zesty citrus fruits. A purposeful addition of Chinook introduces a classic layer of resinous pine and ruby grapefruit, providing aromatic depth against a crisp, neutral malt backbone. Its palate is defined by a clean, snappy bitterness that lingers elegantly, balancing the fruit-forward hop character with a refreshing, dry finish that invites another sip.
Appearance. Pale golden (approx. 6 SRM). Brilliantly clear with a moderately large, white, long-lasting head and fine lacing.
Aroma. Moderately high hop aroma featuring tropical fruit (mango, pineapple) and citrus (lime, grapefruit). Distinctive piney and resinous notes follow. Low, clean, neutral grainy maltiness supports the hops. Fermentation is clean with very low esters.
Taste. Hop-forward initial impression with tropical fruit and citrus flavors. Malt is low and grainy-neutral, lacking caramel notes. Firm, moderate-high bitterness (approx. 45 IBU) provides structure. The finish is dry and clean with a lingering, resinous pine and grapefruit aftertaste.
Mouthfeel. Medium-light body with moderate to high carbonation. Smooth finish without astringency or harshness; very light, well-integrated alcohol warmth.
