Burnt Mill Brewery’s Constellations: Orion is a beautifully crafted Hazy IPA that showcases a celestial synergy of seven distinct hop varieties. This modern ale pours with a luminous golden glow and a thick, meringue-like white head. A spectacular constellation of aromas bursts from the glass, dominated by vibrant notes of sweet tangerine, ripe passion fruit, mango, and zesty grapefruit. On the palate, a soft, pillowy mouthfeel delivers a luscious wave of juicy tropical fruit and bright citrus, supported by a gentle, clean malt backbone. Restrained bitterness and a smooth, off-dry finish make this intensely aromatic IPA remarkably drinkable and refreshing.
Appearance. Luminous, hazy golden-orange with a beautiful, opaque glow. It is topped by a dense, rocky, meringue-like white head that exhibits exceptional retention and leaves thick, attractive lacing on the glass. Free of any visible yeast clumps or floating hop particulates.
Aroma. High intensity aroma bursting with complex fruit notes. Dominated by a vibrant blend of tropical fruits like passion fruit, mango, and pineapple, alongside bright citrus expressions of grapefruit and sweet tangerine. A very light, clean, bready, and grainy malt character rests quietly in the background. Fermentation profile is clean and neutral with complementary fruity esters, devoid of any harsh alcohol or yeast-derived phenolics.
Taste. The initial impression is an explosion of juicy tropical fruit and bright citrus flavors, mirroring the aroma with rich notes of mango, melon, and orange zest. Malt flavor is low, contributing a soft, bready sweetness that balances the hops. Perceived hop bitterness is low-to-moderate, smoothly integrated without any harsh or grassy bite. The finish is off-dry, clean, and incredibly smooth, with a lingering, juicy fruit aftertaste.
Mouthfeel. Medium-full, soft, and pillowy body that feels luxurious yet highly drinkable. Carbonation is moderate, providing a gentle sparkle. There is no astringency, hop burn, or harshness, and the alcohol is exceptionally well-integrated, offering only a very subtle, clean warmth.
