Burning Sky’s NZ Grisette is a vibrant, sessionable Saison that captures the rustic elegance of the style with a modern, Southern Hemisphere twist. Brewed for New Zealand beer month, it showcases a lean, wheat-forward malt base that provides a soft, grainy foundation for expressive New Zealand hops. Expect a bouquet of tropical fruit, lime zest, and white wine notes that dance alongside classic peppery phenols and bright citrus esters. Highly attenuated and effervescent, this collaboration with Boneface delivers a bone-dry finish and a crisp, refreshing bitterness, making it a quintessential table beer with a sophisticated hop profile.
Appearance. Very pale straw color (approx. 3 SRM). Features a persistent, rocky white head with excellent lacing. The appearance is slightly hazy, reflecting its unfiltered nature and significant wheat content.
Aroma. Moderate to high intensity. The aroma is a complex blend of spicy, black pepper phenols and fruity esters reminiscent of grapefruit and pear. Complementing the fermentation is a distinct New Zealand hop character, offering notes of crushed gooseberry, tropical passionfruit, and floral undertones. Low grainy, crackery malt sweetness is just detectable in the background.
Taste. Starts with a soft, grainy wheat flavor that quickly gives way to a firm hop bitterness. The flavor profile is dominated by a mix of lime zest and tropical fruit from the New Zealand hops, balanced by a rustic, peppery yeast character. It is exceptionally dry with a clean, bitter, and slightly spicy aftertaste. No lingering sweetness or heavy malt presence is found.
Mouthfeel. Light-bodied and highly effervescent. The carbonation is prickly and refreshing, enhancing the beer's dryness. There is no perceived alcohol warmth, and it lacks any astringency, finishing with a crisp, clean snap.
