This session-strength Vienna Lager offers a modern, hop-forward twist on the classic amber style. A foundation of Munich and Vienna malts provides a bready-rich and subtly toasty core, balanced by a vibrant hop profile. The use of Hallertau Mittelfruh contributes elegant floral and spicy notes, while Motueka introduces a distinctive lime-driven citrus brightness through late and dry hopping. Despite its lighter alcohol content, the beer maintains a sophisticated malt complexity. It finishes remarkably clean and crisp, blending traditional European lager elegance with a refreshing, citrusy zest that lingers gently on the palate.
Appearance. Light reddish amber to copper in color (approximately 10-12 SRM) with bright clarity. Topped by a large, persistent off-white head that leaves consistent lacing.
Aroma. Moderate intensity featuring bready-rich and toasty malt accents. The hop character is more pronounced than traditional examples, offering a blend of spicy, floral notes alongside a distinct fresh lime and citrus aroma. Very clean fermentation profile with no esters or diacetyl.
Taste. Initial impression is of soft, elegant malt complexity with flavors of toasted bread and grain. This is quickly met by a firm hop bitterness and flavors of citrus zest and noble herbs. It is balanced toward a fairly dry, clean finish that avoids caramel or roasted flavors. The aftertaste leaves a lingering impression of both rich malt and crisp citrus.
Mouthfeel. Medium-light body with a smooth, gentle creaminess. Moderate to high carbonation provides a refreshing prickle. No alcohol warmth is present, and the beer is free from astringency.
