This ultra-low-ABV interpretation of an American IPA delivers a remarkably punchy hop experience despite its featherweight frame. The blend of Citra and Cascade hops drives a vibrant aromatic profile of zesty grapefruit and citrus, while Amarillo contributes floral and stone fruit notes. Simcoe provides a grounding resinous pine character. A lean, grainy malt base provides just enough structural support to prevent the assertive bitterness from becoming harsh. Its crisp, dry finish and high carbonation make it exceptionally refreshing, showcasing the bright characteristics of the American hops without the weight of a standard-strength ale. Appearance. Pours a pale gold with brilliant clarity, though a faint hop haze may be present. It is topped by a medium-sized, frothy white head with good persistence and delicate lacing.
Aroma. High intensity hop aroma featuring prominent notes of grapefruit and orange peel from the Citra and Cascade, supported by apricot and floral tones from Amarillo. A distinctive resinous, piney quality from Simcoe provides depth. Malt is low and clean, suggesting pale crackers, with a neutral fermentation profile.
Taste. Initial impression is hop-forward with flavors of citrus zest, tropical fruit, and pine resin. Bitterness is medium-high to high but clean, never reaching harshness. Malt flavor is low and grainy, providing a lean backdrop that keeps the focus on the hops. The finish is dry and crisp with a lingering, hoppy aftertaste.
Mouthfeel. Light-bodied with a smooth, thin texture characteristic of a low-gravity ale. Carbonation is medium-high, contributing a lively, refreshing prickle. Alcohol warmth is absent, and the mouthfeel is clean with very low astringency.
