Brussels Beer Project Brewster Gang (2022)
Brewster Gang is a vibrant Hazy IPA characterized by a soft, pillowy texture and an expressive aromatic profile. The Pink Boots Hop Blend drives a burst of tropical stone fruit, citrus, and sweet aromatics, while the addition of organic tea introduces a nuanced, earthy complexity and a subtle floral lift. Bright notes of mango and grapefruit are balanced by a gentle, grainy malt backbone. The finish is remarkably smooth with a restrained bitterness, allowing the herbal nuances of the tea to linger alongside juicy hop esters, creating a sophisticated and refreshing take on the New England style.
Appearance. Straw to deep gold (4-6 SRM) with a distinct, opaque haze providing a soft shine. Topped by a dense, rocky white head with excellent retention and thick, meringue-like lacing.
Aroma. High intensity aromatics of pineapple, passion fruit, and orange zest from the Pink Boots Hop Blend. Underlying notes of lightly bready malt and a unique, subtle herbal-floral character from the organic tea. No caramel or toast.
Taste. Massive tropical and stone fruit flavors lead the palate, followed by a delicate, earthy tea presence that adds depth. Low to moderate bitterness is well-integrated, providing enough structure without being harsh. Finishes soft and off-dry with a clean, fruity aftertaste.
Mouthfeel. Medium-full body with a smooth, velvety texture and moderate carbonation. No astringency despite the tea addition; light, well-hidden alcohol warmth consistent with its strength.
