Island Hopper presents a vibrant Session West Coast IPA profile, balancing a lighter frame with intense aromatic impact. The hop trio of Talus, Mosaic, and Simcoe drives a complex bouquet of pink grapefruit, resinous pine, and ripe tropical mango, accented by subtle floral notes of dried rose and sage. Despite its sessionable strength, it maintains a firm, clean bitterness characteristic of the American IPA style. The malt backbone is lean and crackery, providing a crisp stage for the hops to shine without adding sweetness. It finishes exceptionally dry and refreshing, leaving a lingering trail of citrus peel and forest floor.
Appearance. Luminous medium gold with brilliant clarity. Pours with a dense, white, rocky head that shows excellent persistence and leaves intricate lacing on the glass.
Aroma. High intensity hop-forward aroma featuring prominent notes of grapefruit zest, passionfruit, and crushed pine needles from the Simcoe and Mosaic. Talus adds a unique herbal and floral nuance. Low, clean, grainy maltiness provides a neutral background with a very low ester profile.
Taste. Immediate hit of resinous pine and citrus oil. Medium-high hop bitterness is sharp but clean. The malt flavor is low, reminiscent of fresh crackers or white bread. Mosaic contributes berry-like depths while Talus reinforces the citrus-pith bitterness. The finish is very dry and crisp with a lingering hoppy aftertaste.
Mouthfeel. Medium-light body with a smooth, crisp texture. Moderate to high carbonation enhances the refreshing, prickly character. Alcohol warmth is negligible, making it highly sessionable without any astringency.
