This massive Imperial Stout delivers an opulent sensory experience forged by twenty months of bourbon barrel maturation. Deep layers of bittersweet cocoa nibs meld with the bright, citrusy lift of orange peel, cutting through the dense malt base. The extended aging introduces sophisticated notes of charred oak, toasted vanilla, and a hint of coconut, typical of fine bourbon barrels. Dark fruit esters of raisin and plum emerge mid-palate, supported by a significant but well-integrated 14% ABV. It is a luxurious, complex beer where the citrus zest provides a vibrant counterpoint to the heavy, roasted chocolate character.

Appearance. Jet black and opaque (SRM 40+). Pours with a thick, mocha-colored head with moderate retention. Visible viscosity creates thick legs on the glass wall when swirled.

Aroma. High intensity. Dominated by dark chocolate and cocoa nibs, followed by prominent bourbon-soaked oak, vanilla, and a distinct zesty orange top note. Subtle esters of black currant and prune are present, backed by a clean, warming alcohol presence.

Taste. Initial impression is of decadent bittersweet chocolate and espresso. The mid-palate introduces a bright, essential-oil citrus character from the orange peel, harmonizing with bourbon-derived caramel and toasted oak. Firm bitterness provides balance against the rich malt sweetness. The finish is long and warming with a lingering cocoa and charred wood aftertaste.

Mouthfeel. Full to very full-bodied with a viscous, chewy, and velvety texture. Carbonation is low to moderate. A smooth, significant alcohol warmth is present but remains well-integrated and not solventy.
